Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Chekit uses cookies and similar storage on our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device by a website. “Similar storage” includes technologies like your browser’s local storage. They’re used to make sites work, remember preferences, and — on many sites — to measure usage or advertise.
What we currently use
Today, this site uses only what’s needed to function. We store your display preference (for example, theme) so the site behaves consistently, and we use storage that’s strictly necessary for security and basic operation. We do not currently use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Cookie categories
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to work and to keep it secure. These can’t be switched off.
- Functional / preferences — remember choices like your display settings.
- Analytics — would help us understand how the site is used. Not in use yet.
- Marketing — would support advertising. Not in use yet.
Consent
Before we introduce any non-essential cookies (such as analytics or marketing), we’ll ask for your consent and give you a clear way to accept, decline, and change your choice — in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
How to control cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set most browsers to block them. Because the storage we use today is functional, blocking it may affect how the site works (for example, your display preference may not be remembered).
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when our use of cookies changes — for example, when we add analytics or the logged-in customer and merchant areas — and revise the date above.
